Body image: when the mirror speaks too loudly
About the way we look at ourselves, and what can help when it gets hard.

Many of us know the moment in front of the mirror when the inner voice becomes too critical. Body image is built over years, from home, from society and from social media.
Notice the words
How do I talk to myself in front of the mirror? We often tell ourselves things we would never say to a good friend. Simply noticing is already a step.
The clothes aren't to blame, and neither is the body
When a piece doesn39;t flatter, it39;s easy to blame the body. You can turn the question around: what does my body need today to feel comfortable?
When to ask for help
When thoughts about how you look take up much of the day, and affect eating, going out or relationships, it39;s worth talking to a professional.
When not to wait
If there are thoughts of self-harm, don39;t wait for a session: ERAN on 1201, or Magen David Adom on 101.
